Microbiology

Research on bacterial pathogenesis has focused on acute infections, however research revealed that the AI are supplemented by chronic infections caused by bacteria biofilms (organized communities of aggregated cells encased in matrix) and are resistant to antibiotics. Our research is focused on pathogenicity, host-pathogen interaction, novel strategies to combat pathogenic microbial biofilms. We are also doing research to explore beneficial microbes biofilms for human benefits.
